Santa Barbara California, otherwise known as the American Riviera, is nestled between the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. This boutique town of quaint Spanish style architecture is a true gem of the Golden Coast. Your body will immediately relax as you inhale the cool salty air from the Pacific and feel the famous California sunshine on your face. With an average yearly temperature of 69 degrees, you’re almost guaranteed a perfect get-away.
Urban Wine & Ale Trail
Santa Barbara has become the California spot for wine and craft beer! With a dedicated wine and beer trail, you’re sure to find a nice glass of wine or a cold one within reach. There are too many to list here, but here are a few of our favorites:
The Canary Hotel is in the heart of downtown and only steps away from the best restaurants, shops, and sight seeing. The rooftop pool overlooks the city and provides a spectacular view all the way to the ocean. The Goodland Hotel in Goleta is the definition of chic and trendy without the fuss. Just 10 minutes from downtown, it’s ideal for that get away you’ve been dreaming of. The Four Seasons, Biltmore is the outstanding resort just steps from Butterfly beach and the posh village of Montecito only 10 min from downtown. Last but not least is Bacara Resort. This fabulous secluded resort only 15 minutes from downtown is plush with decadence. With two pools, a spa, and restaurants, you may never leave the property.
Start your morning with a stroll on one of Santa Barbara’s many beaches. Check out East Beach for a game of Volleyball, West Beach to spread out and watch boats come into the harbor, or Hendry’s Beach to meet and play with all the dogs that call Santa Barbara home.
Don’t miss our famous Farmer’s Markets almost everyday of the week! Tuesday afternoon, lower State Street shuts downs for local vendors to sell fresh picked veggies and flowers while local musicians serenade the crowds.
Arigato is a local’s favorite spot for sushi. Be sure to order the Locals Only dish that pairs fabulously with the Arigato Pinot Noir made by Carr Winery. You won’t be disappointed. Olio Pizzeria is downtown and is another must for your list. Try the Parma Pizza paired with Carr Pinot Gris. You can’t go wrong with that combination. The Black Sheep is a quaint spot that will surprise your taste buds with pure pleasure! Order the Wild Boar Spare Ribs paired with Carr Cabernet Franc – you can thank us later.
Take a Hike!
The Santa Ynez Mountains drape the background of Santa Barbara so there are many hikes to choose from. For an easy-going hike with a great view, check out the Douglas Preserve. It’s a flat loop along one of our many cliffs overlooking the Pacific. If you’re feeling adventurous, try Inspiration Point, another local favorite. It’s only 3 miles round trip, but you’ll gain 800 feet and a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. The best place to see pools year around is on the San Ysidro trail. It’s a moderate hike with lots of shade and beautiful streams of water cascading down the rocks.
Santa Barbara has plenty for the adventurer! To learn to surf, sail, kayak, stand up paddleboard, or ride horseback, look no further than Santa Barbara Adventure Company or Santa Barbara Sailing.
Santa Barbara is known as one of the most dog friendly towns in CA!
*Hendry’s Beach is an off leash haven for pups that love the sand and sea.
*Most wineries and breweries will let your dog tag along as long as it’s on leash.
*Our hiking trails don’t require a leash, so you’re sure to pass many pooches on the trails.
