With the holidays fast approaching we are creating great shipments for our Cluster and Pinot Wine Club Members that will be going out in the beginning of December. We decided to include one of our favorite library wines for our Pinot Noir Club. We recently opened the 2006 Carr Pinot Noir from Lindsay’s Vineyard and it is incredibly smooth with some earthy Burgundian qualities and holiday spices. The wine goes great with this Roast Pork recipe.
At Carr Vineyards & Winery, we believe that memorable experiences are created when our wines are paired with great food, family, and good friends.
We love sharing our recipes for foods that pair well with our:

Now that the holidays are near and the weather is starting to cool off we thought we might share this great recipe. It is a great quick recipe when you are busy and on the go. Paired with our 2012 Carr Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara County this is the greatest comfort meal on a chilly evening.
Who doesn’t love chocolate and wine. It is such a great combination and when you add berries to the equation it is just that much better. Our favorite wine to pair with chocolate is our Morehouse Vineyard Syrah. There is something about this particular Vineyard that tastes so incredibly delicious when paired with dark chocolate. We found this recipe thanks to Cast Sugar and just knew it would be a match made in heaven with our 2012 Carr Syrah, Morehouse Vineyard.
Tierra Alta is one of the most beautiful properties in Ballard Canyon with its steep rolling hills. It bordered the property Ryan lived on when he first started Carr Winery and was living in Santa Ynez. This vineyard is special and that is why Ryan decided to create a single barrel of this Syrah just for our Luxury and Vintage Club members to enjoy. It won’t even make it into the tasting room and you must be in one of these two clubs to get one of these exclusive bottles!
We chose to pair this exclusive wine with a comforting ragout because beef is a great pairing for Syrah and this recipe just melts in your mouth and is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Il Padrino is Italian for “The Godfather”. This wine is our Super Santa Ynez blend which is a spin on the Super Tuscan wine. The blend is predominantly Sangiovese with a little bit of Merlot and Syrah blended in for a really deep berry and spice flavor. Our minds still go towards the Italian side as far as food pairings go however you could pair this wine with other gamey meats and have just as much enjoyment. We chose to go with a flatbread pizza with italian sausage to really bring out the spice of the wine from the anise in the sausage.
Food with a lot of spices can be kind of scary to try to pair with wine. It is usually a good rule of thumb to go with a nice off-dry white wine. The residual sugar from the wine compliment the spice and has a nice contrast to all of the spicy flavors in the dish. This Moroccan dish paired with our 2013 CVW La Bonita is a great example of this.
