Whether it’s Valentine’s Day, a birthday, or just a romantic evening, the sweet and savory tart paired with 2013 Crosshatch “Shading” is the perfect finish to any date.

The flavor of our 2014 Carr Syrah from Morehouse Vineyard reminds us of being in a cozy cabin with dessert baking in the oven. The palate of this wine is unlike recent Syrahs we have done before. With a unique blend of black pepper and vanilla macaron, this is a perfect pairing for a semi sweet dessert.
One of my favorite gadgets during this time of year is my slow cooker. There is nothing more inviting than coming home to the house filled with the aromas of a slow cooked meal. One of the best combos this winter has been this cappuccino pot roast with a bottle of 2014 Carr Syrah. Toss in all the ingredients before you go to work, including a cup of your morning joe, and you’ll be set to come home to an amazing meal.
One of our favorite wines right now is the 2014 Carr Sangiovese. Full of fruit, earth, and Italian herbs, this wine is truly unique. Wine that tastes this good needs food that tastes this good! We’ve paired it with one of our favorite chicken recipes. With the perfect balance of sweet and herby, recipe is quick and easy, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy a glass of Sangiovese both before and during your meal. Enjoy!
Pinot Noir is one of the easiest wines to drink with food. It goes great with vegetarian dishes, fish, red meat, white meat, ethnic food, cheeseburgers…. That is also what makes it so difficult for me to always pick the perfect recipe! This one, however, was a no brainer. Our 2014 Carr Pinot Noir 114 from the Yard Vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills is a medium bodied, single clone Pinot Noir. It is fruity, yet earthy with subtle spice. This recipe has all the same depth and flavor characteristics to stand up to this wine. Another Carr recipe to try with your Carr wines.
Single-pot recipes are everywhere, and it makes sense – one pot means so much less clean up. And by cooking all the same ingredients in one dish, you create even more flavor from each ingredient than you would have if they were all cooked separately. Who doesn’t like more flavor? That’s why this single-pot, chili-braised beef works so well with a glass of 2013 Carr Cabernet Franc Reserve. Bursting with great cedar and nutmeg flavors, this wine is gentle yet mature enough to contest the lively flavors of this plate.
Flatbreads are some of the most fun recipes to experiment with, especially since it is hard to get it “wrong.” This fruity and savory flatbread makes a great partner to our 2014 Carr Pinot Noir, Yard Vineyard. The bright berry flavors and earthy undertones of the Pinot match well with the apples, raspberry, and cheese flavors in this recipe.
Root veggies take the cake for winter and fall comfort recipes, and they pair SO well with the 2013 CrossHatch “Shading,” a co-fermented blend of Grenache and Syrah. While slightly floral, this wine has hints of licorice and fig, which makes it a superb wine for gamey, roasted meats and root vegetables.
