Carr Winery’s 2017 Carr Syrah from Kaerskov Vineyard in the Los Olivos District has received 90 points from Matt Kettman with Wine Enthusiast.
“Slightly tarry on the nose, this bottling starts with aromas of charred meats, blistered elderberry and crumpled violets. Earthy elderberry and dried violet flavors come through on the palate, which is dark and deep and touched with a hint of char,” Kettmann wrote.
The 2017 Carr Syrah from Kaerskov Vineyard was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels before bottling, and has a case production of 101 cases. Its inky color and aromatic intensity makes it a great “food wine,” ideal for pairing alongside something rich and meaty. You can find this single-vineyard Syrah online, or at either Carr tasting room.
