Carr Winery’s 2017 Carr Syrah from Santa Barbara County has scored 92 points by Wine Enthusiast.
“This county-wide blend offers a strong combination of snappy black-plum fruit alongside peppery spice, earthy garrigue and sanguine aromas. The gamy flavors of the palate pair well with boysenberry pie, cracked pepper, dried violet and wild thyme,” Matt Kettmann wrote.
The 2017 Carr Syrah from Santa Barbara was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels before bottling, and has a case production of 303 cases. This 100% Syrah is a blend of three different vineyards: Tierra Alta Vineyard (Ballard Canyon), Kærskov Vineyard (Los Olivos District), and Paredon Vineyard (Carpinteria). It is currently available for purchase online and in both Carr tasting rooms.
