The Yard Vineyard

The Yard Vineyard is located in the Northern section of Sta. Rita Hills AVA in Santa Barbara County. This was the first vineyard planted by Ryan Carr in 1998. Ryan only worked with the vineyard for three years, after which the original owner sold the property. The new owners chose not to farm the vineyard. The vines were left to fend for themselves for several years. Then in 2006 the vineyard was brought back to life with a new well and some hard work. Ten years after being planted, The Yard produced its first crop in 2007 and Ryan was able to get some of the first crop. Ryan and Bryan Babcock partnered up to farm the vineyard together until 2014. In 2015 Carr Vineyards took over the whole property and The Yard has become home base for Carr Vineyards and the flagship vineyard for Carr Winery. The vineyard is 18 acres planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris.
